While the title of this entry may sound like an oxymoron, I assure you it's not. Runco has recently announced details about the LS-3 LightStyle projector that will ship in November, just in time for Christmas. Retailing for only $4995, this is the Runco projector many folks have been waiting for.

Designed from the ground up, this 1080p DLP projector incorporates the same Runco proprietary engineering, advanced features and performance enhancements found in their more expensive models. One of three models in the new LightStyle Series, the LS-3 combines state-of-the-art DLP-based SuperOnyx technology with Runco ConstantContrast and Vivix image enhancement and proprietary video processing to achieve deep black levels and significant contrast, measuring above 10,000:1. It also incorporates the ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) calibration suite for optimal performance in any room. These calibration tools feature day and night calibration memory settings, individual sharpness and noise reduction controls, programmable image memory selection keys, built-in test patterns and a dark room-optimized remote.

Manufactured to be incredibly reliable for the specialty home theater market, the LS-3 provides the utmost in installation flexibility, including two lens options to meet varying room and screen sizes. The projector includes ample horizontal and vertical lens shift to achieve optimal imagery even without ideal room placement. Runco's intelligent horizontal and vertical lens shift technology prohibits lens shift outside the image area to eliminate shadowing or image clipping.

A major departure from Runco's larger performance projectors, the LS-3 is extremely compact and will easily attach to walls or ceilings. The LS-3 features a deep-black finish with a uniquely-designed chassis.
